This notice explains what Sail On stores when you sign in, and why.
Who is responsible
Sail On AS (org. no. 918 391 819), Ravnøveien 76, 3160 Stokke, Norway, is responsible for this information. Write to post@sailon.no about anything to do with privacy.
What we store
If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, profile picture and an ID that links your account to your Google account. We get no access to your email, files or anything else in your Google account.
If you sign in with email, we store your email address and your password. The password is stored encrypted, never as readable text.
We also store when you signed in and the IP address you signed in from, so we can spot misuse of your account.
Why
This information is only used to sign you in and keep your account safe. The basis is our agreement with you to use the service, and our legitimate interest in protecting accounts from misuse (GDPR Article 6(1)(b) and (f)).
Where it is stored
Your account is stored with Supabase, on servers in Stockholm in the EU. The website is hosted by Vercel. Both process the information on our behalf. We never sell your information and do not share it with anyone else.
Cookies
We only use the cookies needed for signing in to work. No tracking and no ads.
When you take the ICC exam
If you take the practical exam for the International Certificate of Competence with us, the examiner records your name, date of birth, email address and a photograph of your boat licence, together with the assessment and the result. The photograph is sent to Anthropic, which reads the name, date of birth and kind of licence for us; the national identity number is never taken. The exam is a formal decision, and we are required to keep it, photograph included, for ten years, because the Norwegian Maritime Authority can ask to see it (GDPR Article 6(1)(c)).
How long
We keep the information for as long as you have an account. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete it.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete the information about you, and object to how we use it. Write to post@sailon.no. If you believe we are handling your information wrongly, you can complain to Datatilsynet, the Norwegian Data Protection Authority.
