Who is responsible

What we store

If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, profile picture and an ID that links your account to your Google account. We get no access to your email, files or anything else in your Google account.

If you sign in with email, we store your email address and your password. The password is stored encrypted, never as readable text.

We also store when you signed in and the IP address you signed in from, so we can spot misuse of your account.

Why

This information is only used to sign you in and keep your account safe. The basis is our agreement with you to use the service, and our legitimate interest in protecting accounts from misuse (GDPR Article 6(1)(b) and (f)).

Where it is stored

Your account is stored with Supabase, on servers in Stockholm in the EU. The website is hosted by Vercel. Both process the information on our behalf. We never sell your information and do not share it with anyone else.

Cookies

Signing in uses the cookies it needs to work. We count visits to the website with Plausible, without cookies and without storing who you are. If you say yes to the question at the bottom of the page, we also use PostHog, with servers in the EU, to see how the website is used, for example how many finish the quote form. If you came from a Google ad, we also keep the ID of that click, and if you ask for a quote we send it back to Google Ads, with the amount if it becomes a trip, so we can see which ads work. Google never gets your name, number or email address from us. The basis is your consent (GDPR Article 6(1)(a)). If you say no, we send nothing to PostHog or Google, and you can change your choice at any time under "Cookies" at the bottom of the page.

When you take the ICC exam

If you take the practical exam for the International Certificate of Competence with us, the examiner records your name, date of birth, email address and a photograph of your boat licence, together with the assessment and the result. The photograph is sent to Anthropic, which reads the name, date of birth and kind of licence for us; the national identity number is never taken. The exam is a formal decision, and we are required to keep it, photograph included, for ten years, because the Norwegian Maritime Authority can ask to see it (GDPR Article 6(1)(c)).

How long

We keep the information for as long as you have an account. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete it.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete the information about you, and object to how we use it. Write to post@sailon.no. If you believe we are handling your information wrongly, you can complain to Datatilsynet, the Norwegian Data Protection Authority.
